Alchemy by Alta

San Francisco, CA

A PLACE FOR ALL  Extending over four urban blocks, the site plan includes two pedestrian “streets,” a public community garden and a public community art studio, and creates a hub for both residents and the surrounding community.

PRESERVING THE PAST WHILE CELEBRATING THE FUTURE  Two existing historic structures were renovated to form anchors at opposite corners of this new community. Five new structures take cues from the historic structures and other existing buildings in the area while also creating a contemporary residential neighborhood.

NEW URBAN EDGES  Parking lots and retaining walls were replaced by a collection of modern buildings with lobby entries, front stoops and engaging outdoor community space, activating a previously blighted section of the community.
