Law Residence
Paso Robles, CA
INTEGRATION WITH THE SITE  Responding to the breathtaking, knoll-top site with 270-degree views of Paso Robles and the Coastal Range, this custom single-story home is nestled among existing mature oaks. Sloping rooflines, corner windows and an infinity edge pool embrace the views. A wine cellar subtly carved from the sloping topography links to intimate terraces for taking in the sunset and a glass of the family’s award winning wine.
A PLACE TO GATHER  A home for a multi-generational family, and a place to entertain friends and winery guests, the architecture is inspired by garden pavilions around the world. Two wings create a central courtyard for a wind-protected, outdoor room.
ARTICULATION OF SPACE THROUGH MATERIALITY  Simple, expressed materials and finishes ensure the primary spaces are defined and enhanced. Concrete floors continue to exterior terraces, blurring the distinction between inside and out. Wood ceilings continue underneath roof overhangs, punctuated only by floor-to-ceiling glass. A vast stone wall anchors the living and master bedroom wing to the site through texture and color.
