Alta Star Harbor

Alameda, CA

RE-ENVISIONING HISTORY  The historic Alameda Landmark Del Monte Cannery is revitalized as a mixed-use project containing neighborhood serving retail, public pedestrian paseo, housing and work/live units.

REUSE WITH RESPECT  Selective removal of the existing roof creates open-to-the-sky paseos and light-filled courts while inserting residential units within the perimeter of the existing façade. Units incorporate existing brick walls, original industrial sash windows and exposed heavy timber framing.

SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS  This adaptive reuse will bring new life to an existing vacant warehouse while also incorporating sustainable materials such as salvaged brick and industrial artifacts, composite wood, VOC free interiors and recycled metal to minimize the project’s environmental impact.
