636 El Camino Real
South San Francisco, CA
EMERGING NEIGHBORHOOD  This pioneering and award-winning affordable mixed-use project set a design precedent for the city’s visionary plan of higher density developments for the El Camino Real transit corridor.
DESIGN FOR AN EQUITABLE COMMUNITY  As a residential community in a transit rich neighborhood designed for residents making 30-50% of the area’s median income, 636 is geared towards working families. 30% of the units have 3 bedrooms, and a variety of community spaces are designed to encourage connections as well as support after school programs and activities.
INNOVATIVE SUSTAINABILITY  Innovative energy use reduction, including solar thermal water heating and PV panels providing up to 50% of the community’s electricity, earned this community accolades including the 2013 California Multifamily New Homes top 3 performing projects of the year.
