INSPIRATION

“If we are to enter into the moods of nature, we must bring with us some vigor and elasticity and spirit. A feeble mind looking upon fair scenes with a languid eye will not feel the joy of them, and it is with nature as it is with friendship – we cannot take all and bring nothing.”
— Viscount Grey of Fallodon

What makes really great design?
We should not have to think or worry about the space we are occupying. Good design feels comfortable, provides a purpose, is beautiful, and withholds any criticism. We are here to exist in spaces, and move between them, as part of their essence.

When did you know you wanted to be an architect?
My foray into architecture was during my first job after high school, building a house in the snow-covered mountains of Colorado. In order to read and better understand the drawings, I took a blueprint drawing class at a community college. The final project was to draw a set of pencil on vellum drawings and run them through the blueprint machine. Probably one of the last of those machines in existence!
