THE LODGE AT PEBBLE BEACH: A LEGACY RENEWED AHEAD OF
GOLF’S GRAND STAGE
Following a nine-month renovation, The Lodge at Pebble Beach, the iconic heart of Pebble Beach Resorts, has reopened with renewed clarity and confidence—just in time for the upcoming AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, teeing off February 12. The architectural design, led by BAR Architects & Interiors, represents a careful balance of historic preservation and contemporary refinement, honoring more than a century of golf tradition while preparing the Lodge for its next era.
Recently featured in Forbes, the renovation has been praised as “a rare gem polished anew.” In his January 27, 2026 review, contributor David Weiss describes a return to a legendary seaside resort that feels both unmistakably familiar and quietly transformed—where classic shingled roofs, warm stone, and understated grandeur remain intact, while interiors feel brighter, more expansive, and more deeply connected to the dramatic coastline of Stillwater Cove.
Praised by Forbes: “A Rare Gem Polished Anew”
David Weiss captures the emotional impact of returning to a place steeped in sporting mythology—now refreshed with clarity and confidence. He describes a first impression that is “eye-poppingly lush and dignified,” noting how the Lodge’s classic bones—shingled roofs, warm stone, and understated grandeur—remain unmistakable, while interiors feel brighter, more expansive, and more attuned to the surrounding coastline.
Natural light, tactile materials, hand-finished wood, and a restrained coastal palette create spaces that feel timeless rather than trendy. Weiss calls out the renovation of Stillwater, the Lodge’s signature dining room, where floor-to-ceiling windows frame Stillwater Cove like a living painting and the interior echoes the colors of sea, sky, sand, and driftwood. The result, he writes, is not a collection of upgrades, but a coherent, holistic vision— “a place reborn, yet still unmistakably itself.”

Designing with History in Mind
From the outset, BAR’s approach centered on respect for context—architectural, cultural, and emotional. As guests arrive, the reimagined entrance signals that philosophy immediately. Custom pavers guide visitors between 140-year-old olive trees toward doors that have welcomed travelers from around the world for generations. Inside, the iconic reveal of Stillwater Cove remains the heart of the experience, now complemented by an expanded Terrace Lounge designed to better accommodate gathering, celebration, and pause.
As BAR Principal Earl Wilson explains, the project is “a story of preservation and renovation at the same time,” focused on maintaining the historic integrity of the building and the character of its defining features. For Associate Caroline Christiano, that responsibility carried deep personal meaning: “It’s always an honor to be trusted with a piece of history,” she shares, reflecting on the Lodge’s role as the focal point of the guest experience and the gratification of seeing the project so warmly received.
Fellow Senior Associate Jim Brenza adds that the collaboration itself was essential: a partnership rooted in shared respect for what Pebble Beach represents—past, present, and future.

Now, as players, fans, and guests return to this legendary stretch of coastline, they will experience a Lodge that feels both comfortingly familiar and quietly elevated—ready for another century of unforgettable moments.
