INSPIRATION / SELECTED PROJECTS

“Architecture should be an elegant mixture of Art and Science.”

What changes do you anticipate when thinking about the future of office/architecture/design?
AI image renders and iterations are a real game changer in the industry. Pair that technology with density analysis tools and the practice of architecture will look very different in a few years.

Architect, living or dead, with whom you would love to talk shop with and why?
Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, has always been one of my favorites. I’d like to hear his interpretation of “form follows function” with multifamily housing in this era.

Describe how you see style and design coming together in architecture:
My wife once said, “Architecture is the perfect mix of art and science.”

Three words to describe your design style: Functional, Simplistic, Modern

What advice would you give to a new architect?
Don’t wear headphones in the office; you'll be amazed at what you can learn via osmosis.

When did you know you wanted to be an architect?
In my sophomore year of high school, I took an engineering course and decided architecture was more my wheelhouse.

Name your favorite or most exciting project at BAR:
Shirley Chisholm Village in San Francisco, my current project! A collaboration of MidPen Housing and San Francisco Unified School District, it will provide 185 units of educator housing as well as indoor community space for the broader community. Look for its opening in Q3 of 2024.
